Eyebrow & Eyelash Tinting: A Buying Guide

Eyebrow tinting (also called brow dye) darkens and defines the brows with semi-permanent colour, and remains one of the most requested quick treatments in any salon.

Choosing a dye format

  • Gel dye (Bronsun) — sets quickly, good for fine or sparse brows.
  • Cream dye (Bronsun) — thicker and easier to control on coarser hair.
  • Oxidant tint (RefectoCil) — the traditional professional standard, paired with a separate developer.
  • Hybrid dye (Noemi) — colours both hair and skin for a richer stain with nourishing ingredients built in.

Choosing a developer strength

Most systems offer 1.8% (softer stain, gentler on sensitive skin) and 3% (stronger, longer-lasting colour) developer options — check what your chosen dye brand recommends before mixing.

Always patch test 24–48 hours before a client's first tint, as required under most salon insurance policies.
